Makassar (ANTARA) - Three students from Hasanuddin University (UNHAS) —A. Nurul Izzah (Faculty of Agriculture), Muhammad Adib Mapparaga (Faculty of Engineering), and Andi Muhammad Geryl Amirawan (Faculty of Marine and Fisheries Sciences)—participated in the Universiti Brunei Darussalam - ASEAN University Network (UBD-AUN) Summer Camp 2025 hosted by UBD from 14 to 28 June, 2025.
This year’s camp, themed “Green Stewardship: Preserving Biodiversity and Advancing Sustainable Development,” brought together 163 students from 38 universities across ASEAN+3 to explore the intersection of environmental sustainability, innovation, and regional collaboration.
The program offered a multidimensional learning experience through lectures, workshops, and field visits, all designed to deepen participants’ understanding of biodiversity conservation and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goals 13 (Climate Action), 14 (Life Below Water), and 15 (Life on Land).
Sessions were led by UBD faculty and invited experts, covering key topics such as climate resilience, sustainable land use, and digital innovation for environmental monitoring. These academic engagements encouraged critical thinking on global challenges and local solutions while fostering interdisciplinary dialogue.

The program’s framework—Elevate, Transform, Discover, and Agent of Change—guided students through a journey of personal and academic growth. The UNHAS delegates actively contributed to discussions, collaborated on group projects, and demonstrated strong intercultural communication throughout the camp. Their diverse academic backgrounds enriched the interdisciplinary approach, underscoring the value of collaboration in tackling sustainability challenges.
The International Office (IO) of UNHAS commends the three delegates for their outstanding participation and representation. Their involvement in the UBD-AUN Summer Camp 2025 reflects the university’s commitment to global engagement, sustainable development, and youth empowerment. With the insights, skills, and networks gained through this experience, these students are now well-positioned to contribute meaningfully to both local initiatives and international collaborations.(*/Inf)
