Makassar, South Sulawesi (ANTARA Sulsel) - The Department of Culture and Tourism in Bantaeng District, South Sulawesi, will offer as well as open two new destinations for tourists in 2016.
Hartawan Zainuddin, the head of the Culture and Tourism Department in Bantaeng said Saturday that the two new tourist destinations in the district are the Simoko falls and Daulu Tomobulu peak which has a high ecosystem.
"The two new tourist destinations in Bantaeng are still in pristine condition and offer natural beauty to visitors," Zainuddin explained.
The presence of two new destinations will complement flagship tourist attractions in Bantaeng such as Eremerasa natural bathing, Bissapu fall, Seruni beach, and Muntea peak, which is known for its apple and strawberry agro-tourism, in addition to Cekdam Balangsikuyu dam, Marina beach, and Ejayya Stone Cave, he noted.
The two new destinations have been introduced to the local community some time ago, but they will be offered to foreign tourists starting next year, he explained.
Further, he was optimistic that the two destinations would be able to become a magnet to attract many tourists to visit.
Moreover, it only takes around 20 minutes from Bantaeng city center to reach the two locations, and therefore the local authorities will continue to promote them, he added.
"The road access has been improved to make it easy for tourists who want to visit these two new destinations," Zainuddin said.
The Simoko waterfall at a height of 50 meters is located in Campaga village in Tompobulu sub-district, he said.
