
73 Killed in Road Accidents This Year

Makassar, S. Sulawesi (ANTARA News) - The Makassar police need to devote more attention to illegal and wild motor racing in the area because such activities had killed 73 people, Makassar police chief Ajunct Senior Commissioner Rahmat Hidayat said here Tuesday.
He said in Makassar last year seven people were killed in illegal motor racing, and this year the fatalities had reached 73, and in May seven people had fatal accidents.
In the meantime last year there had been 440 serious road accidents with 118 people killed, and in 2011 there had been 499 serious road accidents, including 73 deaths.(H-NG/B003)
