Six Toraja Landslide Victims Buried

Tana Toraja, S Sulawesi (ANTARA Sulsel) - The six dead victims of the landslide disaster in Lemo, Mangkendek subdistrict, Tana Toraja, South Sulawesi, were eventually buried after being laid in state for more than a week.

Under an agreement reached by the bereaved families of the six victims, the bodies of Daniel, Margaretha, Rival, Roy, Ridwan and Cakra, were buried in one grave in the Panglion family cemetery, some two kilometers from the landslide disaster.

Upon completion of the burial, Tana Toraja Regent Johannis Amping Situru handed over a local government aid to the bereaved families.

Amping said the assistance consisted of Rp 2.5 million for each victim's families, in addition to funeral expenses.

The bereaved families had also received assistance from the local church.

Daniel, along with his relatives were killed along with their homes buried in the landslide which occurred on Friday (May 29).
