Garuda's Income Estimated to Increase By 15 Pct

Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The state-owned airline company PT Garuda Indonesia Tbk. has projected an increase in revenue by 15 to 20 percent this year, which is up from last year.

The airline company's VP for Corporate Communication Pujobroto said here on Friday in a macro-term the company's income is expected to increase by 15 to 20 percent to Rp27.5 trillion with a profit of Rp811 billion.

He said since 2005 the company has continued conducting transformation with the last effort marked by going public in 2011 in line with its quantum leap program until 2015.

The addition of new fleet and new domestic and international routes is also part of the quantum leap program, he said.

He said its present flight services totaling 400 would be increased to 1,500 until 2015.

Under the quantum leap program Garuda expects to operate 194 planes until 2015 from presently 95.

As part of its fleet development to support business expansion in 2011 Garuda has received 24 new planes and would receive 20 more this year.

In 2013, 24 more would come consisting of Boeing 777-300, Air Bus 330, Boeing 737-800 NG and Bombardies CRJ 100 Next Gen.

The four Boeing 777-300 are expected to serve direct flight service to Europe including London, he said.

The others meanwhile would be used to strengthen the company's domestic flight service following the development of its network in the Indonesian eastern region after the Sultan Hasanuddin airport in Makassar, South Sulawesi, is made into a hub, he said. (H-YH/B003)
