Hasanuddin Airport Applies "Open Sky" Policy

Makassar, S Sulawesi (ANTARA News) - Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport in Makassar, South Sulawesi, has applied the "open sky" policy to improve its services.

"The application of open sky policy at Sultan Hasanuddin airport is expected to optimize all services at the airport," South Sulawesi provincial administration spokesman Amal Natsir said here on Tuesday.

He said that following the application of the policy, the airport which has been in operation for more than two years now would be equivalent to Sukarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta, Ngurah Rai International Airport in Denpasar, Juanda International Airport in Surabaya, and Polonia International Airport in Medan.

According to Amal Natsir, the application of the open sky policy was also expected to be a stimulus to reach the target of 7 million passengers per year at Sultan Hasanuddin Airport, located at the border between the district of Maros and Makassar city.

"Sultan Hasanuddin Airport service has been complained so far and therefore all related parties there should have one accord to support the application of the policy," he said.

Amal Natsir pointed out that service process with X-ray system at the airport to sort out the passengers' baggage and baggage claim would be faster.

Meanwhile, Hamzah, a prospective passenger at Hasanuddin airport said on Tuesday that the service was already better but he hope it should be made even better.(O001/a014)
