Makassar (ANTARA Sulsel) - The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is supporting the development of the Maminasata (Makasar-Maros-Sungguminasa-Takalar) area in South Sulawesi into another metropolitan city in Indonesia.
"A number of activities are being carried out to support the Maminasata development project," the head of JICA's Makassar office, Nakagawa Kazuo, said here on Saturday.
He said there were at least seven projects in South Sulawesi to support the development of the Maminasata area and one them was city management.
In addition, Kazuo said, there were also local industrial development projects and bird flu management in South Sulawesi because the province was recognized as model for bird flu management in East Indonesia.
Meanwhile, South Sulawesi Governor Syahrul Yasin Limpo said he welcomed JICA's offer to assist in district and municipal development in the province.
The governor said he continued to give time opportunity to Japan in the development because of good relations and communication between South Sulawesi and JICA.
He expressed hope that JICA would continue to play its role in South Sulawesi provincial administration program and support the development of human resources, education, and public health in the province.
