Makassar, S Sulawesi (ANTARA Sulsel) - A Makassar district court on Friday sentenced former chief of the small credit center of the Parepare branch of state lender Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI) in South Sulawesi to seven years` imprisonment for corruption.
Syahminal Yonnidarma was also punished with a fine of Rp50 million or facing an additional jail term of one month, presiding judge of the corruption court Ibrahim Palino said.
The convict had abused his authority by disbursing the bank fund without proper procedure in cooperation with Aming Gozal the owner of a local company PT Griya Maricaya Gemilang.
Aming Gozal was also indicted in the the case that caused a loss of Rp34.6 billion of the bank fund including interest.
Aming Gozal had submitted the credit proposal to finance the construction of a shopping center at Jalan Saddang in Makassar with land certificate not belonging to him or his company.
In addition, Syahminal had disbursed the credit without proper procedure of feasibility study, Ibrahim said.
He said BNI should not approve the credit proposal as the land used as a collateral belonged to the state.
