Makassar (ANTARA Sulsel) - Makassar, capital of South Sulawesi province, is still a destination of the calls of foreign sealiners after the Italian cruiseship Costa Allegra called at Makassar port today.
"This year Makassar had become one of the destinations of foreign sealiners' calls," head of the Makassar Tourism Agency Eddy Kosasih said here Tuesday.
He hoped the calls of foreign sealiners at Makassar port would contribute to tourism in Makassar as an important world city.
"The number of foreign tourists to Makassar had reached 24,591, and we have projected a 20 percent increase this year," he said.
A number of attractive tourist objects in Makassar, he added, had been introduced to the visiting foreign tourists, including the Rotterdam Fort, Losari beach, Tamalate Palace, Balla Lompoa, and others.
Costa Allegra cast its anchor at Soekarno Hatta harbour to day with 743 foreign tourists on board from various countries, including Germany, Spain, Italy, France, Turkey and Peru. They came straight from Singapore and will later proceed to Walacea Islands and Komodo Island.
Costa Allegra was the second sealiner which called at Makassar port in the last two years. In March 2006, Costa Marina was the first to call at Makassar.
