Makassar, S Sulawesi (ANTARA Sulsel) - An international bike racing, Tour de Makassar scheduled for November 2016, will promote South Sulawesi`s tourism sites to the participants, especially foreigners.
An organizer, Chandra S. Djania, said here on Tuesday that besides being a sporting event, Tour de Makassar is also an effective way to promote the natural beauty of South Sulawesi to the international community.
He said the bicycle racing participants will pass three districts and cities, including Makassar city, as well as Bone and Parepare districts.
Chandra said the event is expected to see bicyclists arrive from around the world, as did the Tour de Singkarak (North Sumatra) and Tour de Banyuwangi (East Java).
Eighteen countries, including Australia, Canada, France, Russia, Germany, China, South Korea and New Zealand, are expected to participate in the race, along with several Southeast Asian countries.
The bicyclists will travel 505 kilometers, during the races three stages.
Also, Tour de Makassar, according to Chandra, is believed to be more challenging than other bike races in Indonesia.
