Makassar, S. Sulawesi (ANTARA Sulsel) - Makassar city, South Sulawesi province will be hosting the third International Creative Cities Conference (ICCC) in 2017.
"The city is focusing on developing a creative economy," the Vice Mayor of Makassar, Syamsu Rizal, said here on Monday.
According to him, Makassar has a remarkable potential for creative economy, something that can be seen in the movies, advertisements, fashion, culinary arts, culture and artistic work being produced here.
It is the reason why Makassar was selected to host the international conference, he added.
"The Makassar city administration paid a lot of attention to creative economy. Also, we have introduced campus communities in the city to creative economy," Syamsu stated.
Earlier, the Mayor of Makassar, Mohammad Ramdhan Pomanto, underlined that since Makassar is located in the middle of Indonesia, the city is appropriate to host the international event.
He noted that Makassar, situated in Indonesia`s eastern region, has achieved rapid development in terms of creativity.
"Makassar also has a lot of experience in organizing national and international events. All of them were successful," Pomanto added.
