Hasanuddin airport sees 128 percent surge in int`l flight passengers

Makassar  (Antaranews Sulsel) - The number of passengers traveling on international flights to Hasanuddin Airport in the South Sulawesi provincial capital of Makassar jumped 128.06 percent to 11,843 in December 2017 from 5,193 a month earlier.

"Based on the available data, the number of passengers who came from abroad increased significantly to 11,843," Chief of the Distribution Statistics Section of the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) in South Sulawesi, Akmal said on Sunday.

The number of passengers on international flights from the airport also jumped 63.10 percent to 12,336 in December 2017 from 7,472 in November 2017.

"Statistically, the number of passengers on international flights to and from the airport increased significantly," he said.

He said the number of passengers on domestic flights to the airport also rose 14.25 percent to 517,464 in December 2017 from 452,916 the month before.

Meanwhile, the number of passengers on domestic flights from the airport increased 6.43 percent to 366,189 in December 2017 from 344,065 in the previous month.

Akmal further said the number of ship passengers from the seaport in the city also increased 28.51 percent to 26,146 in December 2017 from 20,345 the month before.

Likewise, the number of ship passengers to the seaport also rose 30.86 percent to 24,600 in December 2017 from 18,799 a month earlier.
